Google has released new Android 11 Developer Preview 2 for all supported Pixel phones and here is how you can directly download it to flash it on your phone. With the first preview arriving last month, this is the second preview iteration for Android 11. As it is still in developing phase, Google has classed this build as a Developer Preview which means it is slightly less stable than a Beta and isn’t available for the general public to test out yet.

If you are interested in finding out whats new and also, what has been refined over the last preview, you can download Android 11 Developer Preview 2 as a complete flash-able firmware for your Pixel phone. The compatibility, obviously, remains the same as before: Pixel 2 / 2 XLPixel 3 / 3 XLPixel 3a / 3a XL and Pixel 4 / 4 XL phones.

Android 11 Developer Preview 2: Details and Changes

Here are some highlight changes and improvements that have been launched with Android 11 DP2:

Better Support for Various Display Refresh Rates

Over the last year, multiple brands have come forward with faster refreshing displays such as 90Hz and 120Hz. Before Android 11, brands have to deploy their own solutions for managing the refresh-rate and the display hardware. However, with Android 11, there is system-level support for this.

API for Hinge Angle Detection (For Foldable Devices)

In efforts to accommodate latest technology, Android 11 is focusing on foldable displays. With Android 11 Developer Preview 2, developers will be able to utilize an API that will relay at what angle the hinge of a foldable is currently at. Very handy for integrating interactive functionality for foldable phones.

More Refined Security and Permission Settings

Google is continuing its effort to make Android more secure. With this new release, there are added security and permission options available. Further restrictions have been integrated on camera and microphone access to apps as well.
