Android 10 custom ROMs are rapidly growing, especially ones based on Android Open Source Project. If you are planning to flash an Android 10 custom ROM, here is a complete tutorial on how to install Gapps (Google Apps) along with it. Generally, all AOSP ROMs install without the Play Store. This isn’t by mistake but it is rather by design. However, as Play Store is quite necessary, there is a individual package called Gapps which users need to download and install after flashing a custom ROM without Google Apps. How exactly on Android 10? Read ahead.
Unlike custom ROMs that are device specific, Gapps are more general / universal. You only have to make sure of what architecture your device utilizes (64Bit for most modern phones / 32bit for older, budget devices). After you have that figured out, you can simply download and flash the complete correct package right after installing your ROM.

Below are the complete instructions on how you can install Gapps on your phone running Android 10. It is essential that you have Android 10 running as these apps are targeted towards that specific version. Further, the installation is just like installing a custom ROM and requires a custom recovery installed on your device. Once you complete the installation of your custom ROM, follow the steps below.
Please read every line carefully and make sure you read the tutorial once before actually performing it on your Android device.
- You should have Android 10 custom ROM flashed already.
- You need to have a custom recovery installed.
- You can skip installation of Gapps and use your custom ROM but there wont be any Google apps or Google account support, especially the Google Play Store.
Complete Step-By-Step Instructions:
Step 1 – Download latest Android 10 Gapps from the links below:
- ARM64 Devices: BiTGApps-arm64-10.0.0-v0.6_signed.zip – This is the 64-bit version of Gapps which will work on mostly all recent devices.

Step 2 – Place the downloaded zip file to the root of your device. (At the very top folder of your SD card or internal storage)
Step 3 – Power OFF your device and boot into Recovery Mode [Read: How to Enter Recovery Mode on Any Android Phone].
Step 4 – In custom recovery, scroll down to “flash zip from SD card” and press the POWER button to select it.
Step 5 – Press the POWER button again and select “choose zip from sdcard”.
Step 6 – Now using your VOLUME keys, navigate to ZIP FILE and select it using the POWER button. Confirm the installation on the next screen and the installation procedure should start now.
Step 7 – After the installation completes, go to “Go Back” and reboot the device by selecting the Reboot option from the recovery menu. The device will boot now.
You will now have all the apps installed. You can view them in the app drawer and use them like normal apps.
These are crucial system apps and the normal user doesn’t have permission to uninstall them. Like we mentioned previously, to remove these apps you would need to factory reset and install the custom ROM again.
