Google Duo now Allowing Group Video Calls across Multiple Regions

Google has been working hard to compete with online messaging services like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram. Google Allo and Duo were introduced to compete these giants but as a result, Google Allo was totally a fail. On the other hand, Google Duo survives by its primary feature of video calling and multiple other features like audio calling, 30 seconds of video shot messages and support for web browsers and tablets.

Google Duo has recently been updated with a new feature of Group Video Calling which is currently live in Indonesia, US, Canada, and India. Group Video Calling feature within Duo enables upto 4 users to have a Group video call just like WhatsApp. To start a group video call within Duo users have to select the participants at first rather than adding them during a group call. This feature was announced by Google Indonesia on Twitter.

Google Duo, Group Video Calls

Google Duo Group Video Call

Duo is an online messaging service by Google which was introduced at Google I/O on May 18, 2016. Duo’s primary feature was video calling which was available to all users but the latest feature of Group Video Calling isn’t available in every region. The service got updated in Indonesia first and then moved forward to the US, Canada, and India. Hopefully, Google Duo’s update will be reaching soon in every region. Here is the tweet by Google Indonesia introducing Group Video Calling in Google Duo

According to the teaser, there is a limitation of 4 participants and they are required to be added within a group before starting a Group Video Call. Two buttons are provided horizontally. One of them allows the creation of groups and the other is to end an ongoing Group Video Call. More features are expected like saving Video Calling Groups and participants up to 7 people at once within Google Duo making it totally stand out from all other online messaging services like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, etc. Along with these expected updates is support for an audio-based conference call and much more to come within Google Duo.

Let us know in the comments if you’re able to do a Group Video Conference in Duo? We love hearing from you. Happy Video Calling!
