Huawei P30 Pro: Unboxing and First Impressions

The all new Huawei P30 Pro is the direct successor to last year’s successful P20 Pro release and in here, we look at the unboxing. As the brand renews two flagship lines — P Series and Mate Series — every year, there are different goals for each. The P series phone has a distinct focus on photography which is also signified in its name. Similarly, this time, Huawei has went above and beyond to make its P30 Pro one of the most versatile camera systems available on a phone to date. We have the device with us and before we share our complete review lets unbox it.

Carrying over high performance internals from recently launched Mate 20 Pro, P30 Pro also runs Kirin 980 (7nm) chipset, carries either 6GB/8GB of RAM and base storage options start from 128GB and extend till 512GB. Exterior-wise, the phone features a very minimal, drop-style notch along with a curved display. The unit we will be unboxing comes in an exquisite Breathing Crystal finish and it is one of the best paint jobs we have seen!

Huawei P30 Pro Unboxing Experience

Huawei ships P30 Pro in a white box that mentions the device name in gold and also has Leica Quad Camera listed. Just as a traditional phone box, top half is easily removed to reveal the device. The device comes packed in protective plastic to avoid any scratches or dents in shipment. For our unit, as we previously mentioned, the color finish Breathing Crystal. Before we start playing with the device, lets first complete unboxing rest of the contents. Right after the device, there is a plastic separation beneath which is a thick cardboard envelope. On top, there is a SIM tray removal tool and within the envelope, there is paperwork such as quick start guide and also a silicon case.

Further along, there are three basic accessories that go along with the P30 Pro. First, there are a standard pair of headphones. These headphones are USB Type-C as the phone does not come with a headphone jack. No 3.5mm to Type-C converter dongle, unfortunately. Next, there is a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable that is used to connect the device with the charger and can also be used for data transfer. As for the charging adapter, it is based on Huawei SuperCharge technology and can deliver upto maximum 40W of power. With that, all contents of box have been taken out.

Revisiting the device, as soon as the plastic cover is removed, P30 Pro gives a great sense of luxury. The glass back combined with the curved front display and adjoining metal chassis, all go along well. The paint job is yet another great design aspect of the phone. Looking at Huawei’s P30 Pro in different lighting conditions, the color shifts from shades of blue, purple and pink — mesmerizing!

Powering it on, the display has very minimal bezels and the drop-style notch instead of the rectangular one found on older generations adds even more immersion. We cant wait to play around with the P30 Pro and report back with our detailed thoughts! Stay tuned for that!
