OnePlus is now rolling out OxygenOS 9.0.5 update for its older OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T phones. Arriving with the new build are a couple of changes, bug fixes and improvements such as Android April 2019 security patch. OnePlus is usually quite good with software updates and it maintains two update channels regularly – stable and Open Beta. This specific update being a stable build, would arrive on all OnePlus 5 / 5T devices via an OTA.
OnePlus Open Beta builds precede Stable releases and they carry new changes and updates that, afterwards, go on to get merged within stable builds. Similarly, we saw April 2019 Android security patch pop up in an Open Beta update released earlier this month and only now is it being pushed to devices as a public release through OxygenOS 9.0.5.
OxygenOS 9.0.5 Changes:
New OxygenOS update is based on Android Pie, same as previous OxygenOS 9.0.x releases. Seeing how the base Android version is same, there aren’t any major changes as per say. However, the refinements and fixes within OxygenOS 9.0.5 do make it an important release in terms of reliability and security.
Along with each update, there is an official change-log that OnePlus maintains to signify all that has changed. Here is the one for OxygenOS 9.0.5:
- Updated Android security patch to 2019.4
- Improved stability for the Phone app
- Parallel Apps
- Fixed issue with parallel apps showing primary account
- Fixed issues with download pictures in parallel WhatsApp
- Gaming mode
- Fixed couldn’t receive third-party apps video call issues
Important Fixes in April OxygenOS Update
As evident from the change-log, there are couple of important fixes that have been addressed. First, system Phone app is getting stability enhancements. More, Parallel Apps now work better with issues of primary account and downloading pictures in WhatsApp addressed.
