Huawei P30 Lite: Unboxing and First Impressions

Huawei’s P30 series refresh has bought with itself a new Lite phone, the P30 Lite. Carrying same ethos as standard Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, this smartphone places itself rightly in the mid-range category. The exterior design is quite similar to other P30 phones, featuring same notch style and curved back as P30 Pro. Further, P30 Lite also comes in a unique color gradient paint job which gives it a nice sheen. Seeing how we have received our P30 Lite in Peacock Blue, in this post, we will unbox it and share the complete experience along with some of our initial thoughts.

Lite phones from Huawei, especially from Mate and P series are quite popular with users. Despite being considerably less expensive than their respective flagships, they manage to carry more or less the same design which makes them highly appealing. For P30 Lite, Huawei has packed in its bespoke Kirin 710 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage as base. Further, the phone also comes with Android 9.0 Pie based EMUI 9.0.1 right out of the box. Let’s proceed to take the phone out of its box and see what accessories ship alongside P30 Lite.

Huawei P30 Lite Unboxing

Huawei P30 Lite: Unboxing Experience

In true Huawei fashion, P30 Lite comes in a white box which has the model name embossed onto it in Gold. This is carried across all available color options. Further, the box has a traditional layout in the sense that users have to remove the top part to unveil the phone. Once the top half is actually removed, we are met with the unit, in our case it is Huawei P30 Lite in Peacock Blue finish. As standard, it comes covered in plastic to protect it in shipping. Importantly, there is also a pre-applied screen protector on the phone as well which is always great to see.

Setting P30 Lite aside, there is a big envelope within the box right after. It contains all paperwork such as guides, manuals and warranty card. Also, within the envelope, there is a SIM tray ejection tool and a silicon clear case.

Further along, there are a set of basic accessories. There is a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable, a pair of headphones and also a USB charger. Seeing how P30 Lite comes with Quick Charging, Huawei has packed in a charger that supports it which is neat.

Tracing back to the phone, P30 Lite has big shoes to fill. Older P20 Lite was quite successful thanks to its hardware and design. By initial looks of P30 Lite, we can report that it is indeed bringing over everything that was good with the previous generation. Straight off, the design is quite similar to more expensive P30 phones which is good to see. Further, the bezel size along with the notch size has been reduced drastically. Powering it on, display is quite crisp as well. For software, P30 Lite is running EMUI 9.0.1 which is a step behind P30 Pro (EMUI 9.1). As Huawei is generally good with software updates, we can expect an upgrade to arrive pretty soon. Interestingly, phone also comes with 128GB storage and 4GB RAM as base.
