Google’s Pixel follow-up is coming at I/O 2019 and here we have the official renders for both Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. Announced last year, Pixel 3 series has been quite phenomenal for the brand. Users have come to love the exceptional camera capabilities of the phone and also how the phone performs thanks to pure, stock Android. However, pricing has been a issue for both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Without any extra proprietary features such as on Samsung or Huawei’s phones, Pixel 3 is more expensive than a comparable spec-ed device. To address that, Google would be announcing Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL.
As of now, we only have confirmation that new hardware would be announced during I/O 2019. Other than that, all are just assumptions and leaks. Important to note, Pixel 3a series would not be a follow-up / successor to the Pixel 3 rather these devices would be mid-range phones designed to fall side-by-side standard Pixel 3 devices. This also means, we should Pixel 4 pop up around the last half of this year which is tradition for Google.
Google Pixel 3a / Pixel 3a XL Renders
As seen from the above image, these new Pixel phones would be coming in the standard two iterations. One being standard and the other being XL variant. What’s surprising for us to see are the large bezels. Despite it being 2019 and almost all phones, including entry level devices, have moved on to minimal bezels, Google is deciding not to go that route.
Also obvious from the render is the fact that these phones will be coming with a 3.5mm headphone jack up top. This feature is missing on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. This might be because the users buying these phones would not be willing to spend extra on getting USB Type-C headphones and non-availability of a headphone jack would be a deal breaker for them.
We can’t wait to see what Google comes up with and how these devices are priced. For more information and news on upcoming Pixel phones, stay tuned to our website!
