Choetech 5-Coil Dual Wireless Charger Review

As our daily used accessories are growing in number, charging each one of them becomes a big hassle. To solve it, not only parent brands of the products themselves but accessory companies such as Choetech are coming out with new ways to make the charging experience more convenient. While most products come with wireless charging built-in, there are a few select number of quality accessories that actually make use of it and offer a reliable product. Fortunately, Choetech is one name that has been synonymous with quality wireless charging accessories. In this article, we will take a look at the brand’s new 5-Coil Dual Wireless Charger (Model T535-S). After running it as our go-to for few weeks, here is what we think.

Despite the name being quite long, it adequately describes the wireless charger. There are 5-coils within the charging surface that offer wireless charging — that too to both devices being charged. Compatibility wise, this device supports Qi wireless charging which most, if not all, devices comply with.

On a related note, we have previously reviewed two more wireless chargers from Choetech:

What’s Inside the Box

Sharing the unboxing experience, it is pretty straight forward. The 5-Coil Wireless Charger from Choetech comes in a white box that is designed similar to other wireless charging accessories by the brand. Within it, you get the pad and a fast charging compliant USB Type-C cable to power it. There is no charger included, which isn’t surprising as all these accessories cut cost by letting the user use the fast charger that came with their smartphone. Fortunately, if you don’t have a fast charger, this this charger would still work but at a considerably lower speed.

Design

The charger itself is setup in a pad layout where you have to rest your devices flat on its surfaces to charge them. The size is moderately large enough to fit two large 6.5 / 7 inch smartphones. Further, the 5-Coil setup makes lining up devices quite easy with a barely a wrong spot on the whole pad. In fact, unlike others, devices can be charged while being setup in the middle of the pad with full power. Also, there is faux leather on top of the pad. This provides grip, avoids devices from falling off and also doesn’t scratch the devices. For durability, it has stood up pretty well in our few weeks of use. In long term use, it will age, however.

There is a central light on the bottom of the pad which notifies that the charger is being utilized. It has one state where it explains if the device is being charged and another where it explains it is full by changing color. Similarly, there is a single USB Type-C port on the opposite end. It is quite good to see USB Type-C making its way to accessories as this is yet another step closer to “one cable for everything” goal. Lastly, if you flip the charger, there are cooling vents as well as some strong rubber feet that hold the charger in place.

Power Output

A key factor for wireless chargers is the overall power output. Qi wireless charging was introduced years back and since then technology has evolved quite a lot. We now have access to fast travel chargers, better cable standards and also fast charging support built right into our smartphones. Taking all of this into account, Choetech has crafted 5-Coil Fast Wireless charger quite smartly. The main benefit of 5-Coils isn’t that you get even faster charging but rather it is to aid in ease of use. Thanks to 5 coils placed tightly together, misplacing your device on the pad is quite rare. There are three unique charging modes which range from the maximum 10W to slightly lower 7.5W and then minimum of 5W. Selection of mode depends on the device that is placed on the pad — there is no user involvement. Thanks to these multiple modes, even if your device doesn’t support maximum power input, it can still utilize the pad. The best part is, Choetech 5-Coil Wireless Charger can provide its maximum 10W output across two devices! In our tests, the charging is reliable and is equally as fast on each device — takes round about 2.5 hours on a 3500mAh smartphone from less than 10% battery to fully charge. We think the most used scenario would be charging a smartwatch and a smartphone at the same time — for which this charger is a bit overkill but great nonetheless. However, if you charge two phones at the same time, this pad is the one to get as it will fast charge both phones!

For input, as we discussed, there is no cable included within the accessory rather you have to connect your own charger. The fastest this charger can support is 9V over 3A (27W). If you connect a lower power rating charger, the pad will under-perform but will remain functional. Also, to get best power efficiency, there is a thick USB Type-C cable included as well.

Conclusion

Concluding, Choetech 5-Coil Dual Wireless Charger proves to be a reliable and must-have accessory for any desk / night stand. Its reliable dual 10W fast charging capabilities, 5-Coil design that doesn’t require finding the correct spot, practical design with PU leather and USB Type-C standard usage are the few things we absolutely love about it. As not every product is perfect, the longevity of leather is slightly questionable and the pad gets a bit warmer when charging at max.
