You can have Google’s June 2018 Security Update firmware downloaded for your compatible Pixel / Nexus device with the following article. Being a monthly update, the new June 2018 build ushers in an updated security patch level which in itself contains multitudes of security fixes. Further, using this build, Google has integrated multiple system improvements within the Operating System — in addition to security changes. These builds are available as full firmware files which you can download and flash manually to your Nexus or Pixel smartphone. We do recommend you update immediately to avoid any sort of inconvenience or glitch that has just been addressed within June 2018 firmware update.
Google has an OTA (Over-the-air) update system in place to serve these software updates directly to your device. However, if you haven’t received it yet, are running a custom ROM or have a system modification such as root in place, downloading the complete firmware is your best bet to instantly bring your device up to speed. Ahead, we have individually attached June 2018 complete factory image download links for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL.
Google Pixel / Nexus Security Bulletin – June 2018
Seeing the Android version hasn’t been changed, June 2018 update arrives for the same set of device as the last update: Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 2, Pixel XL, Pixel, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, and Nexus 5X.
Prior to making these images available for manual download, Google starts pushing them directly through their update servers to compatible devices. We did see Check for Update functionality, which is built-in to the Android system, being fixed in the previous build so hopefully, it wont be causing any problems this time around. To check for an available update, go to Settings > System > System update > Check for update.
Here is a list of all the functional updates (changelog) included in this June 2018 update:
- Improve BLE performance – [All]
- Improve antenna-switching behavior in areas of weak coverage – [Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL]
- Improve Wi-Fi connectivity with certain Wi-Fi access points – [Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL]
