With this tutorial you can find out how to implement Android P Intelligent Rotation Feature on any Android device. Android P immediately got a lot of attention when it was announced last month. It is not currently available for the general public rather it has only been announced for developers and enthusiasts who want to help in testing. As with any major OS release, Android P will take some time to arrive on your Android device. Out of the many great features Android P will bring, one of them — Intelligent Rotation, as we call it — you can get running on your current device.
Generally, phones have only two rotation options — auto-rotate enabled or disabled. Thanks to Intelligent Auto Rotate on Android P, the device will be able to detect whether you are trying to rotate the screen and will show a button, which, once pressed, would rotate the screen in the available option. Basically, Intelligent Rotation adds a new third orientation state to your Android device.
You will still be locked in portrait mode after disabling the auto-rotation however, if you rotate your device in a landscape position, a new button will pop up in the navigation bar. If you enable this button, your device will shift its viewing mode. For when you have auto-rotation turned on, you wont be able to see this button as the phone will rotate seamlessly.
