Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus USB Drivers – Download for Windows & Mac

This guide will help you to download Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus drivers and install them on your computer so that you can connect your phone to transfer data, media, photos and other files. USB Drivers are somewhat a necessary requirement so that your computer may recognize the phone properly. It doesn’t end there, as these drivers also help you to utilize system utilities such as ADB and Fastboot. The 8th generation S flagship from Samsung is now available for pre-order with shipments starting soon. Those who have already pre-ordered, it is a good idea to start your exploration journey by installing proper USB drivers for the Galaxy S8 Plus on your PC through the guide below.

For a fresh computer which hasn’t been setup to connect with Samsung phones, it would be necessary to install proper USB drivers before you first connect the Galaxy S8 Plus. Fortunately, those who have installed Samsung Galaxy drivers before, they can connect the Galaxy S8 Plus immediately but still, can use this guide to update them. If you are looking for a similar guide on setting up Galaxy S8 USB drivers, we have that too!

The Galaxy S8 Plus would be the brand’s first Galaxy S flagship phone to come with USB Type-C slot at the bottom. Previously, they included USB-C in their Galaxy A 2017 series and the Galaxy Note 7 that went boom! Be it Mac / Windows, you would be required to have proper USB drivers to transfer files. The guide below shows you how to do exactly so. As mentioned, the drivers also help you in running programs that do more than just transferring data like flashing firmware through ODIN. This post will help you download and install the correct Galaxy S8 Plus drivers on PC and Mac.

The link below will help you in downloading proper USB drivers available for multiple platforms — Windows / Mac / Linux. The new Galaxy S8 Plus does indeed come with expandable storage through a micro-SD card slot. Keep in mind, the drivers you are going to install only help your computer to properly recognize the device connected to it and all its internal storage (including SD card). Download Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus Drivers for Windows

The latest and official USB drivers already come bundled with Samsung Smart Switch program which you can download for Windows. If you do connect your phone without any installation of drivers, the MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) drivers will automatically be installed to give you basic functionality. These MTP drivers come included in Android running phones and the Galaxy S8 Plus is no exception. Please note, Samsung KIES is no longer compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.

However, sometimes there is no activity on your computer even after connection of your phone, this is why you would be needed to install correct USB drivers. For transferring media content, photos and other files from your phone, you need to have a USB-C cable (preferably the one you got with the phone) for the phone.

Follow these simple steps to connect your phone with Windows PC:

Step 1 – Download Samsung USB drivers for the Galaxy S8 Plus and install them on your computer.

Step 2 – Download Samsung Smart Switch and install it on your computer too. This app also includes the latest modem and MTP drivers needed for your Galaxy S8 Plus to connect with the PC. Smart Switch will also help you transfer contacts or files from your previous (or other) phone.

Step 3 – Connect your Galaxy S8 Plus with the computer and a USB-C cable.

Step 4 – Now wait for the computer to recognize the device and install / setup necessary files and drivers.

Step 5 – You will notice several files being installed. Once completed, open My Computer or This PC to find your phone.

Step 6 – Double-click on your phone and now you are ready to browse through your Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus on the Windows PC.

You can now transfer photos, music, videos or any other files from and to your Galaxy S8 Plus internal storage and the SD card (if you have inserted any) in your phone.

Android File Transfer - Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus

Connecting Galaxy S8 Plus’s internal memory and SD card storage is relatively easier on Mac OS X. The entire process on Mac is as easy as plug and play. If you have been a Google Pixel or Nexus user on a Mac previously, then setting up the Galaxy S8 Plus should be no different for you.

Google provides a free utility for macOS, called Android File Transfer, that users can use to connect their Android phones (and tablets) to transfer their data between the phone and the computer. Android File Transfer misses out on a number of important features and feels very outdated, but it gets the job done and is compatible with almost every Android device out there.

A few users did report some issues with Android File Transfer and some of the newly launched Android phones (i.e. Google Pixel). That has been taken care of with another free alternative on Mac called as HandShaker. We will talk about that in a bit below.

Make sure you have a Galaxy S8 Plus and a USB-C cable (preferably, the one that came with the phone). Then follow these quick steps:

Step 1 – Download Android File Transfer and install it on your Mac computer.

Step 2 – Download Samsung Smart Switch and install that on your Mac as well. This app is the latest tool offered by Samsung to safely and seamlessly transfer your data to virtually any Samsung Galaxy device. Read more here about Smart Switch. Installing this tool is optional, as you can easily transfer content using just Android File Transfer.

Step 3 – Connect your Galaxy S8 Plus with the computer and a USB-C cable.

Step 4 – Now wait for the computer to recognize the device. It may take a few seconds more if this is your first time connecting a new Android device.

Step 5 – Android File Transfer window will automatically open up with your internal phone memory directories.

Alternatively, you can also try to use Samsung KIES for Mac for browsing through your internal storage and transfer file easily. But, this is an old Samsung software and it is not recommended to use it.
