LG Nexus 5X USB Drivers – Download Now

Install newest USB drivers for your Nexus 5X through this easy post. Many new users and even few old ones consider USB drivers as useless which is not quite true. You need correct USB drivers installed in order to let your PC correctly recognize what is connected to it. After installation, you would be able to easily transfer data correctly to and from the device. Furthermore, third-party software will also be able to use these drivers to perform their intended functions correctly. Below, there are fast download links, reference articles and a step-by-step guide for installing USB drivers on the LG Nexus 5X.

The download link present in our tutorial will guide you to a package which is universal to all Nexus phones including the new Nexus 5X.  Due to security issues, a phone cannot be simply connected to a PC and act as a USB. If you have a lock code, you would first have to bypass that on your phone, then connect it. The USB drivers on the PC end allow you to transfer files properly without any hassle.

If you are looking for fastboot drivers, we have a link for that as well. You won’t have to install the full SDK just to get to the fastboot. We have an entire section full of Android USB Drivers, but we have that covered as well for you below on how to download and install the drivers.

LG Nexus 5X USB Drivers for Windows

Like we said, the USB drivers for Nexus 5X are bundled in the device itself. For transferring media content, photos and other files from your phone, you need to have a micro USB cable (preferably the one you got with the phone) for the phone.

  • Connect your LG Nexus 5X with the computer using that USB cable.
  • Now wait for the computer to recognize the device.
  • Several drivers including the modem, MTP service etc. will be installed automatically.

By default, your phone is set to “Charging only” when you connect it to the computer with your USB cable. To be able to transfer files between your PC and phone, do the following steps to enable the storage option:

Step 1 – After connecting your phone and installing drivers, pull down your notification area.

Step 2 – Tap the “USB charging this device” option.

Step 3 – Now select “Transfer files” from the various options show on your screen.

Once finished, you will see a new media device in My Computer. You can now transfer photos, music, videos or any other files from and to your Nexus 5X USB memory.

If the above mentioned steps do not install any USB drivers, you will need to download Google USB drivers (direct link) for this phone.

LG Nexus 5X USB Drivers for Mac

Connecting your Nexus 5X USB memory on a Mac is also easy. If you have been a Nexus device user on a Mac previously, then this Nexus 5X should be no different for you. Make sure you have a Nexus 5X and a micro-USB data cable (preferably, the one that came with the phone). Follow these quick steps:

  • Download Android File Transfer and install it on Mac OS X.
  • Connect your LG Nexus 5X with the USB cable.
  • Wait for the phone to get connected and drivers to be installed.
  • Android File Transfer window will automatically open up with your internal phone memory directories.

If Android File Transfer fails to start, that is because you might have to enable the “Mass storage” option in your phone:

Step 1 – After connecting your phone and installing drivers, pull down your notification area.

Step 2 – Tap the “USB charging this device” option.
