AT&T has begun rolling out latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to last year’s Galaxy flagship, the Galaxy S5. You might be expecting Android 6.0 Marshmallow by now but it will take more time. On the brighter side, you are now getting the latest version of Android Lollipop running on your phone. This update besides bringing a newer Android version, brings bug fixes and enhancements. There is now support Android for Work.
The firmware first popped up on Friday, which means you would be able to get your OTA (Over-the-air) update right now. To check for it, go to Settings then About Device and then “Check for updates”. This update, at the moment, is only available through OTA and Samsung KIES, if you cant seem to find it there then just wait hopefully it will pop up in the next few hours. The maximum update size almost reaches a full gigabyte so beware of installing it through Mobile Data plan. It is recommended you make sure all of your stuff is backed up before proceeding with the firmware installation.
