QMobile A1 will be the very first smartphone under the Android One program in Pakistan. Android One was a project initiated by Google in order to increase the number of people exposed to Android, especially in developing markets like Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka etc. QMobile has strong presence here in Pakistan so it is quite logical Google targets its first phone with a hardware manufacturer that has a lot of experience under its sleeve.
The device hasn’t yet made it to our hands but as soon as it does, we will have a detailed review with comparisons to other smartphones currently competing in the same price bracket. QMobile A1 will cost Rs. 11,500 and will be available this week in all leading stores. The whole package includes a 4.5-inch display screen, 1.3 GHz quadcore processor, 1GB RAM, dual-SIM support, 1700 mAh battery and a 5 megapixels camera.
It is not a specifications war with Google’s Android One project rather it’s about keeping everything up to date and running smoothly. The QMobile A1 will be running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and has guaranteed software support for 2 years.
We think it’s a great initiative that Google has brought over the Android One project in Pakistan and it also indicates how interested Google really is with the Pakistani market. We also hope that the QMobile A1 sets the standard for budget Android phones and prove to be good competition for other hardware manufacturers.
