How to Root Moto E (2015) with SuperSU Package on Android 5.0
We have put together a detailed step-by-step instructions guide on how to root Moto E (2015) with SuperSU. Please read every line carefully below. We suggest that you should read the tutorial once before actually performing it on your phone.
- This root method tutorial is only for Moto E (2015). Please don’t try this on any other variants of the phone.
- Make sure you backup all your data in your phone before proceeding.
- This will void your warranty.
- HTC Sync should be installed as it comes with the latest Moto E (2015) phone drivers.

Complete Step-By-Step Instructions:
NOTE: You need to have a custom recovery installed on your Moto E (2015) i.e. ClockworkMod or TWRP Recovery before proceeding below.
Step 1 – Download SuperSU Root (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.49.zip) for Moto E (2015) to your computer.
Step 2 – Connect your Moto E (2015) to your computer using the USB cable.
Step 3 – Now copy/paste the downloaded UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.49.zip file to your SD card. Make sure the file is in the SD card root (not in any folder).
Step 4 – Then turn OFF your phone and disconnect from the USB cable.
Step 5 – Now to get in the Recovery Mode. Switch ON the phone while pressing and holding Volume Up + Power buttons together. Alternatively, read this: How to Enter Recovery Mode on Any Android Phone.
Step 6 – Once you are in the Recovery Mode, scroll down to “flash zip from SD card” and press the Power button to select it.
Step 7 – Press the Power button again and select “choose zip from sdcard”.
Step 8 – Now using your volume keys, navigate to the Update-SuperSU-v2.49.zip file that you copied to your SD card and select it using the Power button. Confirm the installation on the next screen and the installation should start now.
Step 9 – After the installation completes, go to main recovery menu and reboot the phone by selecting “reboot system now“. Your Moto E (2015) will reboot now!
That’s it. Your Moto E (2015) has now been rooted on Android 5.0 Lollipop with SuperSU package. Check for the SuperSU app in your apps list to verify.
