Galaxy S6 was announced today by Samsung. To start off, it is definitely a change from tradition and it’s good to see Samsung experimenting with new materials rather than just plastic. Aluminium and Glass have been something unknown to Galaxy phones but that is about to change with this release. In this post we will focus solely on Galaxy S6.

Galaxy S6 Edge and S6

Design:

Over the period, Samsung has been pressurized by consumers on using below par materials on their phones. It looks justified complaining about plastic once you are paying a premium which the Galaxy S phones demand. This time round they have listened to their reviews and have come up with something much better than spectacular. The round edges and poking camera sensor on the back is reminiscent of old Galaxy phones which is a good thing.

Specifications:

Coming over to the hardware specs, Galaxy S6 surely delivers. With the latest Exynos 7 Octa-Core 64 Bit processor and 3GB of DDR4 RAM, on paper, Galaxy S6 looks uneatable. All is shown on the beautiful Super AMOLED 5.1 inch QHD display. The camera has been also improved greatly. 16MP is the pixel account but what truly astonishes is the sensor. F/1.9 aperture ensures some good low light shots. OIS is standard. A new feature has been announced which tracks objects and Auto Focuses respectively. The fingerprint scanner has improved and now supports touch rather than a full swipe which felt cumbersome. Heart monitor has changed places and has moved to the right side of the phone.

Software and User-Interface:

Software wise, Samsung will be including latest Android 5.0 Lollipop bundled with latest Samsung TouchWiz. Similarities are quite alot with previous TouchWiz versions present on the Note 4 and S5. Mentioned differences include new labels rather than icons and less irritating notifications. Overall, it seems quite nice with refreshed icons and new wallpapers. Accessibility features have been carry forwarded like Smart Stay, Smart Call, Air View etc.
