How to Install PhilZ ClockworkMod Recovery 6 on Sony Xperia Z1 C6902/C6903
We have put together a detailed step-by-step instructions guide on how to install PhilZ ClockworkMod Recovery on Xperia Z1. If you are used to installing custom recoveries on the other Sony Xperia series, then this should not be any different for you. Make sure you read the tutorial once before actually performing it on your device.
- This tutorial is only for installing PhilZ ClockworkMod Recovery on Sony Xperia Z1 C6902 / C6903. Please do not try on any other Xperia Z1 variants.
- This tutorial will not wipe your data, but still make a backup of everything.
Complete Step-By-Step Instructions:
Step 1 – First of all, you need to enable USB debugging mode. See here: How to Enable USB Debugging.
Step 2 – Download PhilZ ClockworkMod Recovery and extract it anywhere in your computer (preferably desktop).
Step 3 – You should have a folder called lockeddualrecovery after extracting the downloaded ZIP file. This is the main package that will help you install PhilZ Recovery with CWM and TWRP.
Step 4 – Connect the Xperia Z1 to your PC via a USB cable.
Step 5 – Run the file install.bat file from the extracted folder in Step 3. Your phone should automatically reboot into PhilZ custom recovery.
Step 6 – Use the volume buttons to navigate to Reboot System. Press the Power button to select it.
Step 7 – Please wait for the phone to boot up and for the installer to complete the installation.
That’s it – congratulations! You have successfully installed PhilZ ClockworkMod Recovery 6 and TWRP on Xperia Z1.

How to Boot into PhilZ Recovery: CWM and TWRP
Switch OFF the phone and turn it ON again. When the phone is powering up, as soon as the green LED turns on, press Volume Up for PhilZ CWM Recovery and Volume Down for TWRP.
Alternatively, you can get NDRUtils from the Play Store to select which recovery you want.
