How to Install TWRP 3.2.1 Recovery on Razer Phone

  • Enable Developer Options by going to Settings > About Phone and tapping on build number multiple times.
  • Go to Settings > Developer Options and enable ‘OEM Unlocking’.

Complete Step-By-Step Instructions:

Step 1 – Download Android SDK from the Android Developers website and install. Also set it up by downloading platform-tools and USB drivers package in SDK. Tutorial given here: How to Set up ADB and Fastboot on Windows.


Step 1 – Download ADB / Fastboot – Android SDK Platform Tools separate package and install on your computer. Download from the following links depending on your OS and extract it anywhere in your computer.

Step 2 – Download TWRP 3.2.1 Recovery package for Razer Phone and extract this file anywhere in your computer:

Step 3 – Turn OFF your phone.

Step 4 – Get to the fastboot / download mode. Do this by holding Volume Down button whilst the phone is off and connect a USB cable which is connected to a computer.

Step 5 – Run this command through ADB.

adb shell getprop ro.boot.slot_suffix

It should return either of these results. Note down whether it is or b.

[ro.boot.slot_suffix]: [_a]


[ro.boot.slot_suffix]: [_b]

Step 6 – Power off the device by holding the power button for 5 to 15 seconds.

Step 7 – Boot the device in download mode. Do this by holding Volume Down button whilst the phone is off and connect a USB cable which is connected to a computer.

Step 8 – You need to switch the boot slot. The suffix you found in Step 5, you would have to switch to the opposite one. So if it was then you should switch to b and similarly, if it was then you need to switch to a.

If you had boot slot previously:

fastboot --set-active=_b

If you had boot slot previously:

fastboot --set-active=_a
