Install Flash Player on Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 KitKat
Nexus 5 does not have Flash Player support for browsing Flash content, but that does not mean you can never have that support on your phone. You can install Flash Player 11.1 for Android on Nexus 5 using the direct APK file. The new Nexus family with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or Android 4.4 KitKat does not support Flash Player 11.1 and can’t download it off Play Store either. It was taken down from the Google Play Store back in July 2012 when it was discontinued for Android devices for good. This was announced in a decision to make people stop using Flash and move to to HTML5.
Nexus 5 users will not get to try and experience Flash Player 11.1 on Android — but, there is always a way to do so. We still have the latest Flash Player APK for download if you want, but here is a quick tutorial to install Flash Player 11.1 on Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 KitKat on it.
How to Install Flash Player 11.1 on Nexus 5
Follow the steps below carefully to install the Adobe Flash Player APK on Nexus 5 Android phone. It’s pretty easy and I’m sure it shouldn’t take more than 3 minuets to do this.
Step 1 – Download Flash Player 11.1 APK file in your computer. If you downloaded directly on your phone, it will be in the folder called ‘downloads’ on SD card.
Step 2 – Download ASTRO File Manager from the Android Market on your phone. You can use any other file manager as well.
Step 3 – Now in your phone, go to Settings > Applications > check “Unknown sources” box. Tap ‘OK” on the warning.
For Android 4.0+ users: Go to Settings > Security > scroll down and check “Unknown sources” box. Tap ‘OK” on the warning.
Step 4 – Connect your phone to the PC and transfer the Adobe_Flash_Player_11.1.apk file anywhere in your SD card or phone memory.
Step 5 – Disconnect from PC and navigate through the app to your directory where the APK is transferred.
Step 6 – Tap on the Adobe_Flash_Player_11.1.apk file. A popup will show up. Now tap on the “Open App Manager” button.
Step 7 – Tap on the Install button. It will then take you to the Android installation interface where it will show you the permissions required for the app. Tap ‘Install’ again for the installation to begin.
That’s it! The Flash Player 11.1 app is now installed on your Nexus 5.
You can now happily browse through Flash content.
However, you will need a third-party web browser (i.e. Dolphin Browser) because Chrome does not support Flash either. you can download Dolphin Browser (or any other browser) from the Google Play Store for free.
