How to Update Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) P5100 to Android 4.1.1 XXCLI1 Jelly Bean

We have put together a detailed step-by-step instructions guide on how to update Samsung Galaxy S Tab 2 to Android 4.1.1 XXCLI1 Jelly Bean. If you are used to installing official updates through ODIN on Samsung Galaxy devices, then this should not be any different for you.

Please read every line carefully and make sure you read the tutorial once before actually performing it on your Android device.

To Remember:

  • This tutorial is only for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100. Please don’t try this on any other variants of the tablet.
  • P5100XXCLI1 is a beta firmware, leaked for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100.
  • First, you will have to install P5100XXBLI2 and then install the Jelly Bean P5100XXCLI1 OTA firmware.

Rooting Warning: This is an official Android 4.1.1 build XXCLI1 update for Galaxy Tab 2 P5100, which means you will lose root as soon as you install this update. You will again have to root Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) to gain full system access and be able to install root apps again. We will post a full tutorial on how to root Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) P5100 on 4.1.1 JB soon.

Complete Step-By-Step Instructions:

Step 1 - Download XXCLI1 Android 4.1.1 OTA for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to your computer.

Step 2 - Connect and mount your Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 USB memory on your computer using the USB cable.

Step 3 - Now copy/paste the downloaded XXCLI1 OTA zip file to your SD card. Make sure the file is in the SD card root (not in any folder).

Step 4 - Then turn OFF your tablet and disconnect from the USB cable.

Step 5 - Now to get in the recovery mode. Switch on the tablet while pressing and holding Volume Down + Power buttons together.

Step 6 - In recovery, using your volume keys scroll down to “apply update from SD card” and press the Power button to select it.

Step 7 - Press the Power button again and select “choose zip from sdcard”.

Step 8 -Now using your volume keys, navigate to the XXCLI1 OTA zip file that you copied to your SD card and select it using the Power button. Confirm the installation on the next screen and the installation procedure should start now.

Step 9 - After the installation completes, go back and reboot the tablet by selecting “reboot system now” from the recovery menu. The tablet will boot now and it might take about 5 minutes to boot on your first time. So, please wait.

That’s it. Your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has now been updated to Android 4.1.1 XXCLI1 OTA firmware. Go to Settings > About tablet to verify.
